Order a prescription

The easiest ways to order repeat prescriptions are:

These accounts show you all your repeat medicine and dosage and you can choose the ones you need.

You can also complete a written request and

  • give it to the Dispensary Assistant
  • put in the prescriptions post box at the practice (boxes are outside the main door and just in the foyer)
  • post it to us
  • drop them off at Leyburn Day Lewis

Please allow 3 working days between ordering and collecting so that we can ensure all items are ordered, received, checked and dispensed.

We do not take repeat prescription requests over the phone or email.

Collecting your prescription

You can usually collect your prescription 3 working days after you have ordered it, remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.

If you live more than a mile out of Leyburn you can obtain your medicines from the practice.

If you live within one mile you will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.

You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:

  • on the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions
  • fill out a nominate a pharmacy or other dispenser form
  • at any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions

If you do not nominate a pharmacy will use the nearest pharmacy to the practice.

Questions about your prescription

If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

Medicines management

This GP practice supports a medicines management review service of medications prescribed to its patients. This service involves a review of prescribed medications to ensure patients receive the most appropriate, up to date and cost-effective treatments. This service is provided by qualified and registered healthcare professionals from within the GP practice, our NHS Primary Care Network, NHS Humber and Yorkshire Integrated Care Board or by external partners approved by the Practice.  Patient identifiable data does not leave the practice system but is accessed to ensure only appropriate clinical recommendations or decisions are made for each patient. Each patient can opt out of (or back into) the practice using their data for anything other than specified purposes or where there is a lawful requirement to do so.
